This session will provide leaders with an overview of site-based professional development for grades 4-5, the forgotten grades in the school reform movement, but with implications for all elementary site-based professional development. Dr. Oropallo will discuss steps to helping these grade levels transition toward a more differentiated model for instruction, professional development models that promotes a successful transition, and the lessons learned from being out in the field working with more than 25 school sites in the last five years. Leaders will receive tools to strategically target these intermediate years with success and that will support the entire K-5 school improvement process.
