Owning Up: Creating a Culture of Dignity in your School and Community

Rosalind Wiseman presents a general overview of the philosophy and practices of her Owning Up ™ Curriculum and her book – the New York Times best-seller, Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends and the New Realities of Girl World. Wiseman draws from real-life scenarios to demonstrate how cliques, bullying and social hierarchies among children and adults can be placed in a larger context of social justice. In this presentation, participants will learn concrete strategies for responding effectively to perpetrators, targets, and bystanders of kids’ social conflicts, and how to help teachers apply them to their individual classroom experiences. Wiseman empowers educators to create a climate of safety, respect, and dignity so every participant leaves with positive ways to impact their school community.
